First Grade Poetry - Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Today, Mrs. R invited me to her first grade classroom for a poetry reading! Her students had written Valentine's Day poems that they were in the process of publishing in plenty of time for February 14. The poems did not have a length requirement, although they had to include sensory details, alliteration, and repetition. The class had looked at several verses in Scripture that discussed love, which could be included in the students' poems.

The poems were lovely. Each student read their poem aloud to the class -- and to me. I loved the recurring themes of familial love, God's love for His children, and candy!
