Imagine: Microfinance Project - Monday, April 28, 2008

We are very excited to inform our school community of a project that each 5th through 8th grade student will be participating in over the next six weeks. On Friday, April 18th, each student in 5th-8th Grade at NCA was given $10 to invest in a small business venture. The students are encouraged to be innovative, work with each other and hold one another accountable to work on their projects. Half of the proceeds will be given to Opportunity International (www.opportunity.org), a Christian organization that facilitates microfinance in third world countries, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty. The other half will be given to Royal Palm Academy to do the same activity during the fall of next school year.
On Friday, May 16th , the Academy will be hosting a marketplace in order to provide students with an opportunity to market goods and services. This will be held in the chapel from 2 - 4 pm and will be open to the public.

The Academy received a donation specifically to fund a project like this, and we are very thankful to the Lord for this unique opportunity to teach students about basic business principles and about ways in which they can impact the world. Please see Sam Brockinton with any questions.
